Here at iphonefix we are not big fans of websites collecting data just because they can. However our new shop is built on Shopify and, whilst that makes our life very much easier, it does mean that we are at their mercy when it comes to cookies and collecting data.
Below we have copied out the text that Shopify recommend we use to keep us GDPR compliant but we would like to add the following common sense information:
When you place an order with us we need to ship it to you. As a result of that we need your shipping address. You can checkout as a guest in which case this data is not stored against your account. It will still be stored against your order. We don't delete orders as they impact things such as our warranty.
We then copy your address into a our shipping service. As of spring 2023 this is likely to be either Royal Mail, Parcel2Go or Yodel (inc. yodeldirect). Couriers sometimes also ask for your email address and your mobile phone number so that they can update you on the progress of the shipment, and we supply whatever you have added to your order. You can of course use invented details (we don't check them), but then you wont receive updates from whichever carrier we choose.
Good news. We have no access to your payment details. This is all handled by shopify directly.
I always recommend that browsers have some added protection such as noscript or ghostery. To make our website work you will need to enable as a minimum the list below. However you may find that the site is slow unless more access is opened up.
Other cookies will almost definitely be needed where the payment provider (e.g. Apple Pay, PayPal etc.) integrates with Shopify.
Over time we expect to integrate with various social media platforms. If you which to engage with those through our website then cookies and data will be shared with those social media services.
REVIEWS & COMMENTS
We don't currently ask you to provide product reviews. We will use trustpilot for reviews.
As our articles start to appear you may wish to comment. If you do, we will need to collect a certain amount of data which will be stored on our site.
- MARKETING CAMPAIGNS
- We make use of email marketing campaigns. Typically email links that are included in any emails we send out will have tracking information that will allow us to track the effectiveness of the campaign. We hope you don't mind. :-)
